In the second year of Darius the king , in the sixth month , on the first day of the month , the word of Yahweh came by the hand of Haggai the prophet to the governor of Judah , Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel , and to the high priest Joshua son of Jozadak , saying ,
Katika mwaka wa pili wa mfalme Dario , katika mwezi wa sita , siku ya kwanza ya mwezi , neno la Bwana lilikuja kupitia kwa nabii Hagai kwenda kwa gavana wa Yuda , Zerubabeli mwana wa Shealitieli⟡ , na kuhani mkuu Joshua⟡ mwana wa Yehozadaki , kusema⟡ ,

Mmepanda mbegu nyingi , lakini mkaleta mavuno kidogo ; mnakula lakini hamshibi , mnakunywa lakini hamutosheki na vinywaji . Mnavaa nguo lakini hampati joto wenyewe , na mtu wa mshahara hupata pesa na kuziweka kwenye mfuko uliotoboka ! ’

‘ Zitafakarini njia zenu ! Pandeni milimani , mkalete mbao , na mjenge nyumba yangu ; ndipo nitaifurahia na nitatukuzwa ! ’ Asema Bwana .

" You looked for much , but behold ! you have brought little home , for I blew⟡ it away ! Why ? " declares Yahweh of hosts . " Because my house lies in ruins , while every one of you runs to his own house .
‘ Mmetazamia kupata vingi⟡ , lakini tazama ! Mmeleta nyumbani vichache , kwa kuwa nilivipeperusha mbali ! Kwa nini ? ’ - Hivi ndivyo asemavyo Bwana wa Majeshi ! Kwa sababu nyumba yangu inakaa kwenye uharibifu , lakini kila mtu yuko radhi kwenye nyumba yake .

Because of this the heavens withhold the dew from you , and the earth withholds its produce .

Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel , and the high priest Joshua son of Jozadak , along with all the remnant of the people , obeyed the voice of Yahweh their God and the words of Haggai the prophet , because Yahweh their God had sent him and the people feared the face of Yahweh .
Kisha Zerubabeli mwana wa Shealitieli⟡ , na kuhani mkuu Yoshua mwana wa Yehozadaki , pamoja na mabaki ya watu , wakatii sauti ya Bwana Mungu wao , na maneno ya nabii Hagai , kwa sababu Bwana Mungu wao alikuwa amemtuma na watu wakaogopa uso wa Bwana .

Bwana alitibua roho ya mkuu wa mkoa⟡ wa Yuda , Zerubabeli mwana wa Shealitieli⟡ , na roho ya kuhani mkuu Joshua⟡ mwana wa Yehozadaki , na roho ya masalia ya watu , kwa kiasi kwamba wakaenda kufanya⟡ kazi katika nyumba ya Bwana Mungu wa Majeshi , Mungu wao .
