" Hear the word that Yahweh is announcing to you , house of Israel .
“ Sikilizeni neno ambalo Bwana anawaambieni , enyi nyumba ya Israeli .

Yahweh says this , ' Do not learn the ways of the nations , and do not be dismayed by the signs in the heavens , for the nations are dismayed by these⟡ .
Bwana asema hivi , ‘ msijifunze njia za mataifa , na msishangazwe na ishara za mbinguni , kwa kuwa mataifa hushangazwa na haya .

For the customs of these⟡ people are worthless . Someone cuts down a tree from the forest . It is the work of the hands of a craftsman using an axe .
Kwa kuwa desturi za watu ni ubatili . Kwa kuwa mtu mmoja hukata mti msituni ; kazi ya mikono ya mtu na shoka .

Then they decorate it with silver and gold . They strengthen it with hammer and nails so it will not fall over .
Kisha huzipamba kwa fedha na dhahabu . Huikaza kwa misumari na nyundo ili isitikisike .

What they make with their hands is like scarecrows in a cucumber field , because they , too , can say nothing , and they have to be carried because they can not walk . Do not fear them , for they can not bring about evil , nor are they able to do anything good . ' "
Sanamu hizi ni mfano wa sanamu za kutishia ndege katika shamba la matango , kwa kuwa haziwezi kusema chochote , hubebwa , kwa kuwa haziwezi hata kusogea hatua moja⟡ . Usiwaogope , Kwani hawawezi kutenda maovu wala mema . ”

There is no one like you , Yahweh . You are great , and your name is great in power .
Hakuna aliye kama wewe , BWANA . Wewe ni mkuu , na jina lako lina nguvu .

Who does not fear you , king of the nations ? For this is what you deserve , for there is no one like you among all the wise men of the nations or all their royal kingdoms .
Ni nani asiyekuwa na hofu juu yako , wafalme wa mataifa ? Kwa kuwa hiki ndicho unachostahili , kwa kuwa hakuna wa kuwa kama wewe kati ya wote wenye hekima katika mataifa yote au katika hali yao ya enzi .

They are both brutish and stupid . Their vain discipline — it is nothing but wood .
Wote wako sawa , ni kama wanyama na wapumbavu , wanafunzi wa sanamu ambazo si chochote isipokuwa miti tu .

They bring hammered silver from Tarshish , and gold from Uphaz made by artificers , the hands of refiners . Their clothes are blue and purple cloth . Their skillful men made all of these⟡ things .
Wanaleta fedha iliyofuliwa kutoka Tarshishi , na dhahabu kutoka Ufazi iliyotengenezwa na sonara , ni kazi ya ustadi⟡ . Mavazi yao ni ya rangi ya samawati na urujuani . Watu wao stadi waliyafanya haya yote .

But Yahweh is the true God . He is the living God and eternal king . The earth quakes at his anger , and the nations can not endure his anger .
Lakini Bwana ndiye Mungu wa kweli . Yeye ni Mungu aliye hai na mfalme wa milele . Matetemeko yako katika hasira yake , na mataifa hayawezi kuvumilia hasira yake .

You will speak⟡ to them like this , " The gods that did not make the heavens and earth will perish from the earth and from under these⟡ heavens . "
Utawaambia hivi , “ Miungu ambayo haikuumba mbingu na nchi itaangamia katika dunia hii na chini ya mbingu . ”

Sauti yake ndiyo itengenezayo mungurumo wa maji mbinguni , naye huzileta mbingu katika mwisho wa dunia . Hutengeneza radi kwa ajili ya mvua na kutuma⟡ upepo kutoka katika hazina yake .

Every man has become stupid , without knowledge . Every metalworker is put to shame by his idols . For his cast metal images are frauds ; there is no life⟡ in them .
Kila mtu amekuwa mjinga , hawana maarifa . Kila mfua chuma ameaibishwa kwa sanamu zake . Maana sanamu yake ya kuyeyushwa ni uongo ; hakuna pumzi ndani yake .

They are useless , the work of mockers ; they will perish at the time of their punishment .
Ni ubatili tu , ni kazi ya udanganyifu ; zitapotea wakati wa hukumu .

But God , the portion of Jacob , is not like these⟡ , for he is the molder of all things . Israel is the tribe of his inheritance ; Yahweh of hosts is his name .

Hema yangu imeharibiwa , na kamba za hema yangu zote zimekatwa . Wamewachukua watoto wangu wote , Kwa hiyo hawaishi tena . Hakuna tena mtu wa kuitandaza hema yangu au wa kuziinua pazia za hema yangu .

For the shepherds are stupid and they do not seek Yahweh ; so they have not prospered , and all their flock has been scattered .
Kwa kuwa wachungaji wamekuwa wapumbavu . Hawamtafuti Bwana ; Kwa hiyo hawana mafanikio ; Kondoo wao wote wamesambaa .

Discipline me , Yahweh , with justice , not in your anger or you would destroy me .
