The word came⟡ to Jeremiah from Yahweh when King Zedekiah sent Pashhur son of Malkijah and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest to him , and they said ,
Hili⟡ ndilo neno lililotoka kwa Bwana kwa Yeremia wakati mfalme Sedekia alimtuma Pashuri mwana wa Malkiya na Sefania⟡ mwana wa Maaseya , kuhani . Wakamwambia ,

" Seek advice from Yahweh on our behalf , for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is making war on us . Perhaps Yahweh will do miracles for us , as in times past , and will make him withdraw from us . "
“ Pata ushauri kutoka kwa Bwana kwa ajili yetu , kwa kuwa Nebukadneza , mfalme wa Babeli , analeta vita . Labda Bwana atafanya miujiza kwetu , kama ilivyokuwa zamani , na kumfanya aondoke kwetu . ”

‘ Bwana , Mungu wa Israeli , asema hivi : Tazama , nageuza nyuma vyombo vya vita vilivyo mkononi mwenu , ambavyo mnapigana dhidi ya mfalme wa Babeli na Wakaldayo wanaokufunga kutoka nje ya kuta ! Kwa maana nitawakusanya katikati ya jiji hili .

Then I myself will fight against you with a raised hand and a strong arm , and with wrath , fury , and great anger .
Nami nitapigana nanyi kwa mkono ulioinuka na mkono wenye nguvu , na ukali , ghadhabu , na hasira kubwa .

For I will attack the inhabitants of this city , both man and animal . They will die in a severe plague .
Kwa maana nitawaangamiza wenyeji wa mji huu , wanadamu na wanyama , watakufa kwa tauni kali .

Then he will kill them with the edge of the sword . He will not pity them , spare them , or have compassion . '
Baada ya hayo⟡ - hii ndiyo ahadi ya Bwana - Sedekia mfalme wa Yuda , watumishi wake , watu , na kila mtu aishiye katika mji huu baada ya tauni , upanga na njaa , nitawatia wote mkononi mwa Nebukadneza mfalme wa Babeli , na mikononi⟡ mwa adui zao , na katika mkono wa wale wanaotaka uhai wao . Ndipo atawaua kwa makali ya upanga . Hatawahurumia , hatawaokoa , au kuwa na rehema . ’

Anyone staying in this city will die by the sword , famine , and plague ; but anyone going out and falling on his knees before the Chaldeans who have closed in against you will live . His life will be his loot .
Mtu yeyote anayeishi katika mji huu atakufa kwa upanga , njaa , na tauni ; lakini mtu yeyote atakayetoka na kuanguka kwa magoti mbele ya Wakaldayo ambao wamefungwa dhidi yako ataishi . Yeye ataokoka na maisha yake .

For I have set my face against this city in order to bring disaster and not to bring good — this is Yahweh 's declaration . It has been given into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it . '

See , inhabitant of the valley ! I am against you , rock of the plain — this is Yahweh 's declaration — I am against anyone who is saying , " Who will come down to attack us ? " or " Who will enter our houses ? "
